Arkansas Announces Women's Basketball Schedule PDF Print E-mail

FAYETTEVILLE — A new 16-game Southeastern Conference lineup becomes the highlight of the full 2009-10 University of Arkansas women's basketball schedule.

For the first time in SEC history, the women's teams will play the same number of league games as the men, but the women are not playing the traditional divisional schedule and will not have divisional standings.

The system increased the existing 14-game schedule by adding an additional rotating team from the east and west divisions.

Arkansas opens SEC action at home on Sunday, Jan. 3, hosting Florida before long-time rival partner LSU comes to Bud Walton Arena on Thursday, Jan. 7. The Razorbacks' first road game is at Ole Miss on Sunday, Jan. 10.

The Razorbacks have five Sunday SEC home games this year. Arkansas hosts Georgia (Jan. 17), Vanderbilt (Jan. 31), Kentucky (Feb. 7) and Alabama (Feb. 21) for afternoon SEC games. The Razorbacks also host a Thursday game with Ole Miss on Feb. 18.

The announcement of the SEC schedule includes one known television date for Arkansas, a Sunday, Feb. 14 game on ESPN at South Carolina. The Razorbacks' other road games include at Kentucky on Jan. 21, at Alabama on Jan. 24, at Tennessee on Feb. 4 and at Auburn on Feb. 11.

Last year, Arkansas closed the SEC slate strong with a school-record five straight regular season wins to finish at 6-8 in the final 14-game slate.

Arkansas Travelers win Texas League championship PDF Print E-mail
2008-09-16) The Arkansas Travelers have won their first Texas League championship since 2001, which was awarded to them after being 2-0 in a best of 7 game series cut short by the 9-11 terrorist attacks. The Travelers beat the Frisco Rough Riders in Dr.Pepper Ballpark 11-3 in the fifth game of the 2007 series last night. However, the Travs were lucky just to get into the playoffs, having barely beat the Springfield Cardinals for the first half championship earlier this season. The Travs finished the second half of the season in last place in the Texas League, but swept the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the newest team in the league. The Travelers went 1-1 in North Little Rock against the Riders, and 1-1 before winning outright their first championship in 19 years
